If you told me that after 12 games played the Patriots would be 8-4 (very easily could be 10-2) and leading the AFC East, I would’ve said you were living in 2018. But here we are in 2021, almost 2022 (yikes) and this is very much the reality that we’re living in. Although, the new Matrix movie is coming out soon and it could prove this is all a simulation, but that’s a different blog post for a different website.
Anyways, it goes without saying that Mac Jones has looked beyond his years, the defense (albeit still figuring some tactical stuff out) has been shutdown the last few weeks, Kendrick Bourne has looked otherworldly, Jakobi Meyers is still the Swiss army knife receiver, Agholor has shown he’s still got wheels, Hunter Henry is a touchdown fiend… I could keep going, but this is already a crazy run-on sentence. This is a Pats team that has shocked the NFL into realizing they’re no joke, and this isn’t beginners luck for Jones.
There aren’t too many other ways to put it other than this has been mind-blowingly fun to watch. I say mind-blowing because I don’t know anyone who predicted the Patriots would be this good. That being said, I am by no means one of those fans who’s saying the dynasty has returned, because let’s be honest, they haven’t truly won anything yet. But, it looks like the Patriot way has made its theatrical return. Bill Belichick is quietly sipping OJ with a smirk on his face somewhere in Massachusetts right now.
The Patriots will have a very telling game against a good Buffalo Bills team in Buffalo with garbage weather predicted on Monday night. If there’s any game that will be a true test of character, this is the one.
That is all.
