They Had Us In The First Half, Not Gunna Lie

Man oh man did the Red Sox have us believing it was gunna be another long season. Starting off the year getting swept by the Orioles at home is a quick way to send fear through the city of Boston. And then, they decide to win 10 straight games and leapfrog their way to the top of the AL East.

Is Alex Cora really that good of a manager? Is Chaim Bloom as sneaky as advertised? Because the way I see it, the Red Sox were able to get under the luxury tax, sign a fairly impressive pitching staff, add to their immediate fielding needs, and emerge as a dominant team less than a year fully removed from one of the hardest seasons to watch in recent memory.

Aside from their Boston Marathon jerseys selling for over $400, this is a baseball team worth supporting again.

Keep in mind, it’s still incredibly early in the season, we don’t even have a fully healthy Chris Sale yet, and we’re only 15 games in. A lot can happen between now and the remaining 147 games.

Regardless, the optimism is high at Fenway Park this year. That’s something we weren’t sure we’d say any time soon.

Oh, and the Yankees are in last place.
