Yeah, we know the Red Sox are tough to watch. It seems like all too recently that they’d just completed that 108 win championship season. But o’ how the mighty have fallen. 7-18 to start the fan-less season, which may or may not be a good thing for the Sox because Boston fans definitely know how to boo. There’s three times that Boston fans boo the loudest: when the Yankees take the field, when the Canadiens take the ice, and when they just can’t win a game.
It’s not exactly a question why the Red Sox are failing to string wins together either. The starting rotation, or lack thereof, leaves extremely little to be desired. Well, if you ask me (and the rest of New England), we desire a hell of a lot more than what we’ve witnessed over the past 25 games.
What may be the most frustrating aspect of this season (pandemic aside) is that on both sides of the ball the Red Sox have a fairly complete and dangerous roster: Benintendi, Bradley Jr., Pillar, Verdugo, Martinez, Devers, Bogaerts, Peraza, Chavis, Moreland and Vazquez. That’s a lineup that’s got it’s fair share of gold gloves, big bats, and young progressing talent.
I just tip my metaphorical cap to Ron Roenicke for not walking out of Fenway Park and sticking around to try to manage this ball club.
I think I can speak for the rest of Boston when I say we’re glad this season is only 60 games, because this would be tough to sit through for a whole season. Wait, is this what it’s like to be an Orioles fan? Sheesh.
