I know we’re all suffering during this quarantine, and we’re trying to ignore the idea that we may have to wait even further to put on a jersey and scream at the top of our lungs… from home, that is.
How are we as sports fans supposed to adequately deal with this type of situation? Well, a lot of us have resorted to replaying highlights of our teams’ glory days or championship runs, while others have landed on streaming virtual games like FIFA or NASCAR. In reality there’s not one true solution to getting our necessary sports fix. I for one have fallen somewhere in between the two solutions that I previously listed: I’ve been playing way too many video games, along with watching hours of “TOP SAVE COMPILATION” and “BEST SPORTS COMMENTARY MOMENTS” on YouTube.
The bottom line is, what we need to remind ourselves, is that this will all return to normal at some point, whether that be in three months or a year from now. We’ll get to have tailgates, grow our playoff beards, sit on the same place on the couch when our team is winning, and hold our heads in our hands when they lose a big one.
If we stick to the guidelines and continue to build each other up, this will all be back to some sort of normal sooner rather than later. If the the city of Cleveland can hold it together after two seasons back-to-back with only one Browns win, we can handle a few more months without sports and a win of our own.
