I Can’t Seem To Figure Out The Red Sox

Hold on, are the Red Sox bad? I honestly can’t tell. They’ll get swept in a series, then go on a five game winning streak, then the bullpen blows another game, then the offense scores 15 runs the next game, followed by Chris Sale not getting run support in yet another immaculate start. Is the bullpen to blame? Social media certainly is quick to pin it on them. Should Dombrowski have signed Kimbrel? Maybe. Does Boston need a closer? It would appear that way. For a brief moment that seemed like it would last the entire season, the Red Sox were doing worse than when the not-so-late great Bobby Valentine was managing the dugout. It would, for the time being, appear that they have once again risen above that tantalizing bar of epic failure. However, that bar is not quite out of sight just yet. The Sox currently sit third in the AL East, 6.5 games back from the Yankees with a 41-35 record. The last ten games have certainly seemed promising going 7-3, but the men that call Fenway Park home need to keep this up if they want to stay relevant in the postseason contention conversation. They need to keep Mookie happy, properly rehab Eovaldi, and maybe bolster their bullpen. If all that happens in a timely manner, the Red Sox’s season is certainly salvageable.
