If you were wondering what the phrase “defense wins championships” was referring to… this was it. Each coach meticulously finding ways to stunt two of the most dangerous offenses in the game. If you only get excited when your offense scores, and not when your defense shuts down the opposing offense, that’s an issue. Not every game needs to be a 54-51 offensive melee like the Rams Chiefs game was earlier in the season. Some games are going to be a 13-3 finish, even if it’s in the Super Bowl. This game was flat out edge-of-your-seat exciting, and that’s just the truth. You don’t even need to be a Patriots or a Rams fan to think this game was exhilarating. Having only a one score lead for the majority of the game, anything could change on one play. The entire game, either team had a chance to win on a single play or drive. There could be a pick-six, or a fumble recovery for a touchdown. There could be one play that goes 80 yards to the house, or a blocked punt that gets returned. At any point during the game, there could’ve been one single play that changed the entire outcome of the Super Bowl. The Patriots happened to have found that one play in the fourth quarter. If that’s not exciting to you, I don’t know what to tell you.
Also, if there’s anything to actually be upset about, it’s Sweet Victory being used as a transition into Sicko Mode. Blasphemous.
