Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots just won their 6th title since 2001. That’s absurd. Let’s just get that out of the way. But let’s look back into two games into the season when people were losing their minds about the loss to the Jaguars, and signing Josh Gordon. People were saying Gordon was going to be the next Randy Moss. Knowing Belichick and how he operates, I knew that they weren’t going to make Gordon a primary target for every reception, because that would’ve been too obvious. They would’ve used him when they needed him. Belichick isn’t the kind of coach to change an entire game plan around a single receiver.
Let’s also backtrack to when everyone was going crazy after the Pats loss to the Lions. Fans were saying this was it for the Brady Belichick era, and they could kiss the Super Bowl goodbye. I believe my exact words were, “The Patriots have won the super bowl before while losing more than two games before. In fact, they haven’t won a super bowl without losing at least two games. So, it’s not time to say goodbye to the New England dynasty just quite yet, there’s still a lot of football to be played.” I said that on September 24th. Now, my wizardry isn’t as head-scratching as Tony Romo’s was in the AFC championship game… but it’s not that bad either.
All that being said, holding the second best offense in the NFL to THREE POINTS in the Super Bowl… that ain’t too shabby for Brian Flores, the inevitable next head coach of the Miami Dolphins. That’s not a bad scoop for Miami.
In conclusion: I called it.
P.S. It’s not a bad era to be a Boston fan
