New England Revolution forward and two time MLS all-star Kei Kamara has been traded to the Vancouver Whitecaps for draft picks and allocation money. Those draft picks are for the first round in 2019 and a conditional second round pick in 2020 in the MLS SuperDraft. This announcement comes less than a month after the hiring of new head coach Brad Friedel. This past season, Kamara scored 12 goals and had 5 assists. Kamara had previously stated that he wasn’t completely happy in New England which, to me, makes complete sense playing under former head coach Jay Heaps. Heaps was an excruciatingly restrictive coach in how he wanted his style of play drawn out on the field, and seemed unwilling to change in his tenure in New England, which ultimately lead to Kamara wanting out.
